Transforming Healthcare with MERC: Empowering Providers to Understand ME/CFS & Long COVID

If you know anything about ME/CFS and Long COVID, you know the painful reality of finding a healthcare provider that understands these diseases. There are countless stories of people spending limited energy to visit multiple providers only to learn they know nothing about the disease or how to help. This is a massive problem and Open Medicine Foundation (OMF) is determined to be part of the solution.

A smartphone with the title "Medical Education Resource Center" on its screen. Below is an equation "OMF + BHC = MERC".

The OMF team understands this barrier and set out to change it by partnering with the Bateman Horne Center (BHC) a few years ago to approach this problem with accessible solutions. Our collective goal is to reach as many providers as possible with the best education so more providers can diagnose and manage ME/CFS and Long COVID with competence and care.

Do you wonder if this type of education matters? Can it really make a difference? Take a look at these testimonials from providers who have trained with BHC.

As a healthcare provider, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of comprehensive education on complex multisystem chronic illnesses like ME/CFS. This program has empowered me to welcome complex multisystem chronic illness patients into my practice with open arms, knowing that I am armed with the expertise to provide them with the comprehensive care they deserve. From diagnosis to treatment, I now approach each case with a renewed sense of assurance, knowing that I can optimize their health and enhance their quality of life.”

“My connection with the Bateman Horne Center began at a time of personal struggle when my daughter was battling the challenges of ME/CFS. The assistance we received on a personal level was transformative, and it inspired me to make a significant change in my medical practice. With the guidance and resources provided by the Bateman Horne Center, I successfully transitioned my internal medicine practice into a clinic specifically focused on ME/CFS. They continue to be my lifeline when I have questions.”
